Exploring applications of a new technology
Shell GameChanger was sponsoring the development of a breakthrough NMR-based analytical instrument, with the potential to radically transform the management of hydrocarbon reservoirs. In order to accelerate the commercial development of the technology, Shell asked Innovia to assess its value beyond the oil and gas industry.
Starting from the fundamental physics of NMR, Innovia mapped the measurement capabilities and expected performance of the new instrument.
We identified where the new instrument might out-perform other types of instrument in current applications, and also potential future applications based on new methods of process control, e.g. monitoring slurries formed in the mining, food or paper industries.
