Exploring new directions for paint
AkzoNobel is a world-class manufacturer of decorative coatings, with leading brands such as Dulux, Hammerite, and the professional brand Sikkens. It asked Innovia to identify emerging technologies applicable to wall coatings and to create concepts that offer new benefits for both professionals and DIY consumers.
We engaged industry experts and conducted systematic research to create a landscape of current and emerging technologies, complemented by a benefit map. The two were combined to create a range of new decorative effects for walls and ceilings, which we brought to life through interactive demonstrators and sample consumer brochures. These allowed AkzoNobel to assess technical feasibility and visualise the commercial potential of the ideas.
As a result of our collaboration, AkzoNobel has identified three specific opportunities that it is taking forward.
