Enabling faster minor wound healing
Millions of people get shallow cuts and grazes every day, leading to about two weeks of painful, fragile skin. Johnson & Johnson wanted to understand how to better help these people by increasing the speed of their wound healing.
Innovia investigated the biochemical, cellular, and perceptual processes of wound healing, searching for interconnections and factors that could limit the speed of skin healing. We then found technologies and safe actives to influence these factors and planned out experimental studies that J&J could use to evaluate them.
J&J received more than forty practical new ideas for ways to safely trigger faster healing of minor wounds, together with a clear view of the experiments required to validate these.
Innovia was also asked to present our detailed model of the skin healing process at an internal seminar for more than fifty people, providing a universal language for future innovation across the company.
