Solar thermochemical processes convert photons into alternative transport fuels. Innovia created a model of a future solar plant to assess different processes…
Leading a workshop to create solutions
Innovia worked with Shell GameChanger to design and facilitate a two-day innovation workshop to create ideas that will dramatically reduce the cost of producing tight gas. Proven US tight gas reserves are sufficient to supply the country for 90 years at current consumption rates – a significant prize. Unfortunately the reserves are deep and of low permeability with the consequence that current approaches to production have marginal economic viability.
The workshop brought together the diverse communities of well engineers, drillers, R&D scientists and experts in rock ‘fracing and propping’. Ideas came from widely varying sources: military drones, algal farms, medical imaging systems and home improvement.
This eclectic mix created a very stimulating workshop environment that quickly generated over 40 new approaches to the tight gas problem. These were developed into proposals for feasibility studies, over 5 of which were awarded seed.
