Pepsi: Foresight Development
PepsiCo is committed to continued innovation and is developing many new food and beverage technologies. In order to prioritize and develop its portfolio, PepsiCo asked Innovia to help it understand what consumers need and desire in 2020 and beyond.
Innovia created a set of four possible scenarios for 2020 through a systematic and creative analysis of sources of uncertainty. We communicated these scenarios through evocative images, descriptions and example personas from different countries and life stages. Using a structured innovation process, we identified product platforms and directions for innovation which spanned these potential futures.
PepsiCo particularly valued not just the way Innovia created powerful foresights through scenarios but the fact that we crystallized these into concrete product platforms with clear reasons to believe. Our work was well received and initiated a PepsiCo-wide reassessment of its foresights process.
