787 Dreamliner
Innovia worked successfully with Boeing on the 787 Dreamliner to explore key aspects of the passenger experience. We took a systematic yet creative look at how new technologies and design approaches could make air travel more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. We balanced the technical requirements of space, weight and safety, alongside the complex emotional and physiological needs of passengers.
We also looked at how emerging lighting technologies and approaches could create a distinctive, attractive and spacious cabin interior. Our work looked at the psychology of lighting and drew on best practice from architectural and stage lighting.
We drew up a long-range technology road-map for lighting, and showed how this could support a range of exciting new design directions. Boeing has built demonstrators of several promising concepts and has integrated them into airline consultations.
