Rethinking Supply Chains for Emerging Markets

Context

Our client’s business had already achieved significant success in emerging markets, bringing everyday delight to millions of new consumers. However, poor handling and extreme environments seriously constrained the range of products it could bring to market. Innovia was asked to identify disruptive process innovations to help our client reach an even wider audience.

Approach

Innovia identified a portfolio of technologies from outside the industry to help our client deliver a lower-cost product that would survive the logistical conditions that limited product performance in the past. Our solutions spanned the supply chain, from novel manufacturing processes that allowed the client to use more robust materials, to new systems to preserve quality at point of sale.

Impact

In a final workshop, the joint team selected a pipeline of high-priority directions for several years’ worth of future R&D. Our client is now planning work to prototype and further refine these ideas.
