We worked with a leading brand to develop options for its future manufacturing platform. The platform needed to be congruent with an increasing focus on sustainability, demand for a greater number of SKUs and continuing increase in prices of materials and energy.
Innovia took a holistic view to innovation across the whole supply chain ranging from upstream pulp manufacture to downstream logistics service providers.
Our estimates of change in manufactured cost showed a potential cost saving of over 15% from today’s base. Specific opportunities that came from this study were vertical integration with nonwoven manufacturers, the use of alternative sources of fibres, improvement in manufacturing flexibility by use of different converting equipment and potential saving from essentially dry formulations. Our client has started programmes to develop each of these options.
